So for those who have No time, just skip to the bottom. I will try to explaining what car nano ceramic coatings R, and what they R’NOT.
I’m a little tired to hear every day those sale FUDGES and «10 layers» tales. All that is out there over internet – some are misleading and others are just a
straight lies. All that marketing fake will eventually tarnish the image of this great
new product of Car paint protections.
There are many different kinds of ceramic coatings, Most of them based on
SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide) with different elements to get higher their characteristics
as-water repellency, hardness, self healing, etc.

So What is it?

NaNo Ceramic Coating
The most of factory car paint finishes are Base coat/Clear Coat system. This is 2 stages of paint , the first being a Base coat(color coat), which provides the color of paint job. And second, is the clear coat, which provides depth, gloss, and protection of your color coat. Factory clear coat is type paint without pigment, needed to protect your color coat from damage and UV fading. But factory clear coat have weak chemical and dirt resistance, water repellency, they are easy to scratch and swirl. The generations of Waxes, Polymer and NaNo Ceramic Sealants, was created to protect original clear coat. But waxing or sealing the paint still doesn’t completely protect from basic damages. They do not prevent scratches or swirls, not chemically or heat/UV resistant. Durability from weeks to months, and need re-application frequently – which is a «headache» for most people.
All manufacturers, detailer and car enthusiast has been looking for a panacea for paint protection since the invention of the clear coat. Popularity of NaNo Ceramic Coatings just made that Derby more complicated.

SO WHAT IS IT !

OK OK.OK – Any NaNo Ceramic Coating essentially is a liquid product, made up of ceramic nano particles suspended in very easily evaporable clear resin, that when applied, hardens and cross links into a virtually impermeable surface that is chemically bonded in to Your car paint.
If applied correctly, ceramic coatings will not delaminate or chip off the surface it is applied to. And is called “semi-permanent” in that it will always be there until you will resolve on to remove it. Once cured, it will display perfect water repellency, mirror gloss, greater resistance to abrasion and chemicals, and 100% UV blockers to prevent color fading and oxidation.

Ceramic coatings are NOT paints, but they will bond to and protect paints. Think of it as a a sacrificial layer or protection.
The main ingredient “SiO2” has been added to many products on a market such as car shampoo, waterless car soap, and sealants. These are NOT a “coatings”, the protection from these products can last from days to months depending on what they were designed to do.
To name it a “coating”, it should be resin based, so be careful for there are sleazy detailers out there selling you a ceramic coating when actually only applying a sealant.

Looks a like some magic- Ha!!!

NO its NOT! NaNo ceramic coatings are one of the best things since shoelaces was created! They also are not bullet proof and require special care.
By my father i was taught to keep my word – just like most of us. Unfortunately, not everyone have got that lesson. The over marketing, and over promising of what ceramic coatings can and will do, will twist Your brains . All these fake claims, things that even a little common sense would prove wrong, are floating around in social media ads, on product websites, and are conceal by installers – all to get their money .

Differences in ceramic coating quality:

Its a lot of brands of ceramic coatings on a market. The main definition of the quality of the product is whether it can be bought by anyone, or only by professionals. Highly skilled professionals will opt to use a professional only product when they want the best quality for their clients, others will install over the counter ceramic coatings to keep product costs down and profits high.

And many times the quality and durability of the product are determined by how skillful the detailer is on correcting and prepping the surfaces, and applying..
No Ceramic Nano Products will work with silicone! So ll polishing compounds in shop you choose MUST BE 100% silicon free “bodyshop safe» label on it.
A great product will fail if installed improperly.
So what are these people claiming that makes you really mad?? My first issue is the insinuation that ceramic coatings are going to replace yourwe need to wash and maintain your vehicle. Well It just doesn’t work that way. If you read their claims closely, you’ll see the word “RESISTANCE” a lot. Just like that watch says “Water Resistant”, it will resist water, but to what level? It is clearly different from “Water Proof”. You can take a water resistant watch into the shower, but go diving and you will kill your watch for sure!

Well, let’s go step by step, and translate all THAT

1. “Scratch Resistance” Or “9H-10H Hardness” 9H or any «H» IT IS NOT a name of ceramic! That is a simple «PENCIL TEST», test in which pencils of different hardness (remember your drawing lessons?)1 is softest and 9 – hardest) are used to grade how susceptible a surface is to scratching. Tester use these pencils to scratch the surface to measure how resistant it is to damage. Most automotive clear coats have a hardness of 4-6 on the scale. Ceramic coatings claim improved hardness up to 9, or 9H. This doesn’t mean the coating will not scratch any more, all this means is that that certain pencil will not scratch it. It is a marketing trick as most hard objects will exceed the comparable 9H pencil. If you put your briefcase on your car and it slides off – it WILL scratch your ceramic coating. Or if you use a a brush to wash your car, you WILL scratch it. Or if someone will use a keys on your car doors-it WILL go through. All this should mean to you is that only the lightest damages will be prevented by installing a ceramic coating. Ceramic coating isn’t going to bounce bulletstand, period.
Can Chip your glass, chip your paint, dent your bumper, it’s going to do all of that If a rock flung at your car at 35 km/h

2. “Rock Chip Resistance”– Total lie!

Whether you have ceramic coatings or not. So if you see any Detailer claiming chip resistance RUN and RUN FAST! The ONLY real protection against rock chipping and road rash is Paint Protection Films, but here is different story. – well- improvement on non existent

3. “Improved Chemical Resistance”

chemical resistance of factory clear coats! But this claim is highly true! Most ceramic coatings will not allow chemicals to penetrate through and damage your clear coat.

But once again, not bullet proof. If you’re going to allow bird droppings to stay on your car for days because you have a ceramic coating – you are about to be disappointed!

4. “Self healing”

, there is some truth to this. In general, few Ceramic coatings have shown to self repair themselves on a very minor scale under direct heat.
Then there are ceramic coatings with enhanced some self healing capabilities. But for the general ceramic coatings.. Don’t think that scratch will just disappear in a few hours under the sun. Too early for that, but its a near future.

I’m sure, you are remember, the

5. What is it that 6/7/8-…LAYERS offers?

Coating called Liquid Glass! It was a previous generation before ceramic coatings. Nano Ceramic Technology which creates a flexible and breathable glass coating and is approximately 100 nanometers 15-30 molecule glass coating thick 500 times thinner than a human hair. Well ! Now — SiO2 is a Base of most Ceramic Coatings ! To make Ceramic from Liquid glass we need to add few (similar in structure) molecules of different materials to give a ceramic coating different properties. Main point in that — Thickness!!! It almost same as it was —150-200 nanometers!!! It is a number of Ceramic coatings on a market, and it’s on a factory’s conscience, what did they add in that mix. Some of Coating is really poor, some not that bad, and very few is good. Now — how it the liquid, which you see in 50 ml bottle, is not a Ceramic Coating! It is works highly volatile, the Ether- containing liquid. That ether like liquid prevents those molecules from glue to each others. It will happen as soon as You will apply that liquid on a surface. Ether will be volatile and molecules will create a coating lying down and build one strong very thin structure. With a second layer, the
Coating structure will get more stronger- BUT NOT THIСKER ! With a 2 layers, molecules will found they own places and will fall so tightly as it possible, and That will create Effect of Lotus – hydrophobic effect ( water repellency) That second layer is all what You can get from any Ceramic coatings ! Every next layer will be rejected by already established structure. You can pour a bucket of Ceramic, over your car body, the thickness of coating will be the same- 150/200 nanometers! (not possible to check if you don’t have an atomic microscope in your pocket).

I know Detailers All that 10 Layers stories is a marketing offering that Multilayer Services- the Product “they” use is good! PR of that coating is really gooood! Coating is Good, But it is not working the way they promise! And it got nothing to do with a numbers of layers!

NON OF ANY CERAMIC COATINGS will prevent scratches and a stone chips.
We are applying that coating to safe original paint! You are paying for protection of factory paint! Super Shine and Slickness you will get for free.))

6. Warranties

– Many coatings claim warranties from 2-5 years.. Some of them claim even a lifetime if you apply an endless amount of layers. First off, if an installer is using the word guarantee, or warranty.. Get it in writing! And if they DO have a written warranty, make sure you thoroughly read the requirements of maintaining that warranty. If you have nothing in writing, then you have nothing, sorry. Many warranties will require periodic check ups, or applications of booster products, which will be at your expense. Miss a check up? WARRANTY out! My best advice is to choose an detailer that can also maintain the coating for you himself, that way they HAVE to stand by their product and for the most part cannot blame you for improper care. And also to choose an installer who applies a coating that does not require the application of booster products, if you real think about it.. How permanent can it be if you need to re-apply product periodically? Food for thought.

7. “No Need to Wax again”

– This is true. The ceramic coatings usually no need to wax or seal over unless you just want to. The ceramic coatings will do just about everything better than a wax or a sealant can, and for longer. There are some ceramic coatings that require a re-application of a booster product on a periodic basis, these are usually part of the requirements for maintaining the warranty.

AND MONEY!!

8. Price
– Ceramic coatings are fairly expensive compared to waxes and sealants mostly because they require surgical prep work in order to bond and cure properly. This is a time consuming and tedious process that is best left to a trained professional. You can consider the quality of the installer by the prices they charge for their service. The less expensive the service is, the higher the chance that there will be cut corners in prepping your vehicle for coating. This is not universal, there are many high quality installers who offer lower prices. It is just something to think about. Always do your research, not only on the installer but on the product they are using and materials for prepping. Online reviews Instagram, Facebook, and Google can help you better understand the quality of the installer.

So! Do i need that NaNO?

If You owns a vehicle, that You really care about and want to maintain, You should have a professional detailer to apply this product. It may not be affordable to everyone, but all of us could use this type of protection.. especially in Dubai.
If you’re looking for a product to apply so, if you neglecting your car and

BUT

never washing it, you’re wasting your money.
Or if you’re going to fail to learn the proper techniques to wash and maintain your car, you’re also wasting your money. Having a ceramic coating applied should be a commitment on your end to break the bad habits of improper care, and to educate yourself on how best to keep the coating in perfect shape. Your Detailer should be able to give you all the advice you need on proper maintenance, and which products and techniques are best to use to clean it. As a detailer, I only offer ceramic coatings to clients that show that they are obsessed and committed to maintaining their car. we- detailers, have a lot of pride in what we do, nothing hurts us more than to spend 100 hours on someone’s car only to see it a few months down the road completely trashed. As an Detailer, I refuse to apply a ceramic coating if i understand – the owner isn’t going to take care of it. I don’t want My name on that job, I don’t want i-SHINE name on that job, I don’t want to be even a thought on that job. I want to apply it for a person who will have as much pride in their car as I do after application.

So! For those who didn’t read this because it is too long, here is the short version:
What are NaNo coatings?
Latest and Best surface protections to date. They are clear layers of protection that act as a second (protecting layer), defending factory paint job. What do they do? They protect surfaces by repelling water and dirt, they increase gloss, they increase chemical resistance, they preserve original paint from minor scale scratches and UV. What don’t they do? They do not stop rock chips, they do not prevent water spotting, they do not replace proper care or maintenance, they do not prevent dings or dents, they are not bullet proof and they do not last forever. What installer? Check online reviews from , facebook or google. Ask for photos of prior installations, and photos of the installers paint correction jobs they’ve done. Llook up for materials and compound they using. Look for an installer who can maintain the coating for you. Do not buy into hype marketing. Are they all so good as they claim? Mostly yes, but there are many claims that are exaggerated or overstated. If the sales pitch sounds like an infomercial, i’d be skeptical. If they start multilayers stories, i’d be skeptical. The skill set of the installer is more important than the product they use, as many coating products are similar in chemical make-up.

Guaranteed or warranted? Only if you get it in writing, and then only if you maintain them according to the fine print. Are they for everyone? YES everyone can benefit from this, and NO they are NOT for everyone. They are NOT recommended for those who are not committed to proper maintenance.

Thank all of you for reading that long!
Please ask if any …. I hope it was not that dull. info@ishine.ae
